frequently asked questions

What does Brutiful Marriage mean?

Brutiful Marriage names the reality that marriage can be brutal and beautiful at the same time. It makes room for tension, humor, frustration, affection, disappointment, and lasting commitment without pretending only one side is real.

Is it normal not to like your spouse all the time?

Yes. Temporary irritation does not automatically mean love or commitment has disappeared. A mature marriage can survive moments when two people deeply love one another but do not particularly enjoy each other in that moment.

Are happy marriages always peaceful?

No. A healthy marriage is not defined by the absence of annoyance or disagreement. What matters is how a couple handles those moments and whether both people continue to protect the relationship.

Why can “couple goals” be misleading?

Public images rarely show the full work of a relationship. Admiring a couple can be encouraging, but comparing your private struggles with someone else’s polished moments can create unrealistic expectations.

Why use humor when talking about marriage?

Humor can lower defensiveness and help couples recognize shared experiences. It should not dismiss real pain, but it can make honest conversations feel safer and more human.

What is the purpose of the Brutiful Marriage Podcast?

The podcast creates space for honest conversations about the good, brutal, ugly, funny, and beautiful parts of marriage. The goal is to help couples feel less alone and more willing to talk about real life.

Can a strong marriage include conflict?

Yes. Conflict is part of sharing life with another person. Strength comes from learning to communicate, repair, extend grace, and keep choosing the covenant when the relationship feels imperfect.

What can couples learn from long-term marriages?

Long-term couples can show that affection and frustration may coexist. Their stories can also demonstrate that endurance depends on honesty, growth, repair, and the willingness to keep learning each other.
